What is a “day in the life” of a daycare dog at Waggin’ Tails Resort?

As soon as your pet arrives they will be greeted with love by our staff, as we believe in building relationships with our guests.  They will then head to their assigned group for the day where they will play away! Games like fetch and tug-of-war are pretty high up on your pet’s to-do list. Running laps with their friends and playing games in the pool in the summer months are even more fun! Some days, special activities will be planned so your dog will never get bored. Of course, we can’t forget all the ear scratches and belly rubs from staff. We love to get to know your pet personally and find out how they like to spend their day. Your pup’s day at Waggin’ Tails will be so filled with fun and excitement, they might just need a nap when they come home.

What about medication. Is there an extra charge to administer?

There is never any charge to give your pet their medication. Even if they’re just taking a daily vitamin we are happy to give them what they need. Our staff members are highly trained and experts at helping your pet take their medication. We do ask that you leave detailed written instructions, including when and what dosage your pet receives. Here at Waggin’ Tails, your dog’s health is a top priority.

Do dogs have to be spayed or neutered?

After 7 months of age, we do suggest that all dogs be spayed or neutered. We do this to prevent many possible problems. Other than the obvious, unaltered dogs are at higher risk for aggressive behaviors. We wish to keep all of our guests safe and happy. We will allow older unaltered dogs into our playgroups as long as they pass the temperament test and do not cause any safety concerns with the other guests.

Does my pet need tags with identification?

We highly recommend keeping ID tags on your pet at all times, not only for our staff but in the case of an emergency. Your pet’s name and your phone number should be included. A dog tag also helps our staff learn your dog’s name on their first few visits.

Are food and treats provided for my dog? What if they have a special diet?

We ask that you provide food for your pet during their stay. It’s easier on their digestive system to continue with their normal routine. You may pre-package their meals, or just make sure we know how much and when your pet eats.  This is especially helpful if your dog is on a special diet. You may also send your dog’s favorite treats. You can be sure your pet will be spoiled during their stay. We do have a refrigerator and freezer for special diets also.

Should we bring my dog’s own bedding?

We have bedding available so that you don’t have to bring any, but you may bring a special blanket or toy to make your dog feel comfortable. Please limit to one of each per pet and, be aware, that item could be lost or damaged. Make sure all items are marked with name. Remember, your pet may act differently when boarding than at home, and it is possible that bedding may be soiled or chewed up/damaged here due to the change in environment. Chewed up bedding poses a choking hazard and we reserve the right to remove bedding if we feel it could be a danger to your pet's health and/or safety.

Are vaccinations required?

Yes. Your dog is required to be up-to-date on all shots, including Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Bordatella. We require these to prevent any illness in your pet or others. Cats must be up to date on Rabies and FVCRP. Our receptionist can help you review your records and we can also call your veterinarian to confirm these.

What times can I drop off and pick up my dog?

We allow drop off and pick up of your pet anytime during our open hours.

Do I get a discount for having multiple pets?

Yes, we offer a 5% discount off each pet.

Are there any age or breed restrictions?

Puppies have to be old enough to have all their vaccinations and all dogs have to pass the temperament test in order to be allowed to play in our daycare playgroups. We do not discriminate against any breeds.

What if my dog doesn't like other dogs or daycare isn't a good fit, can they still come to Waggin' Tails?
Absolutely! We offer solutions for dogs with all kinds of personalities to receive the mental and physical stimulation that is so important. Your pet will receive one-on-one play time with staff throughout the day and can relax in a private suite.

What happens in the event of a pet emergency?

In the event of an emergency, we will contact the owner immediately followed by a call to the pet’s veterinarian. If not available, we will use our own on-call vet to treat the situation.
